LOCKDOWN 3.0 – WHAT WE’RE LISTENING, WATCHING, READING

We're back once again in lockdown and here are our recommendations to keep ourselves busy!

What we’re listening to

Grounded with Louis Theroux
Getting our Louis fix while all of his documentaries are on hiatus. Our favourite episodes of note would include FKA twigs, Rylan Clark-Neal and Michaela Cole. The follow up interview with FKA twigs regarding her latest lawsuit against Shia LaBeouf and her recovery from an abusive relationship.

Sh**ged. Married. Annoyed.
Rosie and Chris – the ultimate funny couple with ace banter, laugh out loud stories. This is always a first listen on a Friday to kick off the weekend with a giggle.

Table Manners with Jessie Ware
Lennie, Lennie, Lennie. What a queen she is! We’re obsessed with the Ware matriarch, fantastic recipes and cooking inspiration. Latest faves include the Elizabeth Olsen episode, Emily Eavis, Munroe Bergdorf and Joe Lycett. Of course, the Ed Sheeran episode with the Ginger Pig sausages will always crack us up.

Americast
Keeping up to date with the ever-changing US political landscape with Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel. A must for any politico.

Katherine Ryan: Telling Everybody Everything
Everyone needs a laugh right now, and Katherine is the one to dish it out each week. She says everything how it is and keeps us coming back for more each week.

What we’re watching

Junior Bake Off
TV that feels like a warm hug. Let the funny, talented kids bring some light to your day, it’s everything we look for after a busy day on the laptop.

The Mandalorian
Totally late to the party on this one, but baby Yoda has our heart, and the fantasy world of Star Wars provides the much-needed escapism from what is becoming Groundhog Day.

Bridgeton
We don’t need to tell you why, do we?! You’ve probably watched it. Can’t wait for season 2! Bring on the Duke!

Bling Empire
Rich kids in LA spending $10,000 on shoes because they feel like it, alongside heart wrenching scenes of searching for their birth parents. Escapism ‘reality’ TV at its finest.

Grand Designs
Kevin McCloud stomping around muddy building sites in his Patagonia jackets, saying they’ve done it all wrong but for the self-builders to pull it out of the bag at the end of the day… we know we’ve seen it all before. BUT with the timeline slowly creeps up towards March 2020 when you know lockdown 1.0 is about it hit, you want to know how they will get over this major hurdle. Must watch TV.

What we’re reading

The Midnight Library - Matt Haig
Such a beautifully written book by one amazing author. This book has had so many 5* reviews we had to pick it up and see for ourselves. Go get it!

Daring Greatly – Brene Brown
A woman who can quite literally take your blinkers off and make you see the world in a completely different way. Oprah loves her. What more is there to know?

A Promised Land – Barack Obama
We bought this from Audible just so we can hear his calming voice. 29 hours and 10 minutes of it to be exact. You definitely get your money’s worth from Barack! A riveting listen.
